Where did PR Newswire go?

PR Newswire was removed from Raven on March 20.

Raven integrated PR Newswire press release distribution on July 9, 2013.

On July 26, 2013, Google updated its definition of link schemes to include some types of press release links. (Total coincidence, we promise!) All major press release services automatically added the rel="nofollow" attribute to links. Immediately, many SEOs stopped ordering press releases — 100% rel="nofollow" links resulted in 0% interest in this as a link building method. Still, we continued to maintain the integration for the SEOs and content marketers interested in using press releases to attract major media attention.

Recently, we took a look at how many of our customers regularly used PR Newswire via Raven. The number barely reached double digits. We chose to spend our valuable development time improving other online marketing tools instead of maintaining this integration.

That’s why we discontinued the PR Newswire integration from Raven in March 2014. Raven does not plan to bring back this integration or integrate any other press release distribution service.

The good news is, when you order directly from PR Newswire, you’ll get the exact same price, the exact same features and significantly more metrics than we were able to retrieve programmatically.
