How It Works

Whenever a user tags a keyword, competitor, link, event, contact or piece of content, that tag is automatically aggregated by the Tag Manager. From here, you can observe the amount of items that are part of the tag, identify any duplicates and rename or merge tags at will.

A Case Study

Tagging is a powerful way of organizing your data in a way that can be quickly and easily isolated. Let's say that your client runs a website with several different products. Each product has its own set of unique keywords that can be tagged as such. If one of these products is discontinued by your client, you can quickly identify all of the keywords associated with the discontinued product.

Tag Manager makes processing these tags easier by giving users control over all of their tags from a single location. Let's say that you have multiple users in your Raven account and these users are tagging events. One user uses the tag "blog post" to designate a day where a new blog post was written. The other user uses the tag "blog posts" to designate the same occurance. Instead of going through and manually changing one tag to mirror the other, you can simply merge the two tags.

Navigating Tags

The Tag Manager displays which data items use a specific Tag, as well as how many times that tag is used. If 12 keywords use the same tag, for example, you can click the corresponding link and Raven will take you to the Keyword Manager, automatically filtering to display all 12 keywords. Click the Keywords, Competitors, Links, Events, Contacts or Content tabs to view only tags in those categories.

Merging and Renaming

Users can rename tags or merge several related tags together using the Bulk Actions menu.

  1. Go to Campaign > Tag Manager.
  2. Select the checkboxes to the left of the tags you want to merge or rename.

  3. Go to the Bulk Actions dropdown menu and select the Merge or Rename action.

  4. Click the Apply button.
  5. Give the tags a new name (or, in the case of merging, an existing name), then click the Save button.

Deleting Tags

Delete a Single Tag

To delete a single tag from Tag Manager, click the gear icon next to the tag that you would like to delete and choose the Delete option. This will not only remove the tag from Tag Manager, but will also remove it from any Keywords, Competitors, Links, Events, Contacts or Content that it was applied to.

Delete Multiple Tags

  1. Go to Campaign > Tag Manager.
  2. Select the boxes to the left of the tags you want to delete.

Display Options

Search Bar

When viewing tags in Tag Manager, you are able to filter tags based on search criteria. Using the search bar, you can, for instance, only view tags that include your brand name. The search field is not able to conduct boolean searches, but can be used to find keywords containing a particular word or exact phrase. Just enter your phrase and click Search to filter your results.

To return to the original listing, click the black X next to your search phrase.

Several of the columns in Tag Manager can be toggled on or off. If you would prefer to not see certain sections, click the Display Options icon – between Filter Sets and the gear icon – and select or deselect the checkboxes next to the following options:

  • Name
  • Keywords
  • Competitors
  • Links
  • Events
  • Contacts
  • Content

Other column display options may be added with new features in Raven.

Filter Sets

Similarly to the rest of the tools in Raven, users are able to filter their data in Tag Manager based on Event Name, Scope and Tags. To create a new filter, click the Filter icon and choose Create New Filter.

Reporting and Exporting

Exporting to CSV

All of your tags in Tag Manager can be exported to a CSV file. There are two ways a user can accomplish this task: using the Tool Options button or the Table Options icon.
