What are the domain metrics displayed in Research Central's Summary section?

The Summary section of Research Central offers several different tables featuring data from multiple sources. Users are able to add individual metrics by clicking the gear icon next to the Statistics header and clicking the metric that they would like to add. You are able to remove metrics by hovering over the metric and clicking the "X" that appears.

Site Metrics

The following metrics are available in the Site Metrics section of the Summary tab:

  • Referring Domains (Root/URL): Number of referring external root domains to the researched root domain or URL.
  • External Links (Root/URL): Total number of links from external websites pointing to the root domain or URL.
  • Total Links (Root): Total number of links (including internal and nofollow) pointing to the root domain.
  • Referring IPs (Root/URL): Number of referring IP addresses to the researched root domain or URL.
  • Referring Subnets (Root/URL): Number of referring subnets to the researched root domain or URL.
  • Referring .EDUs (Root/URL): Number of referring .EDU domains to the researched root domain or URL.
  • Referring .GOVs (Root/URL): Number of referring .GOV domains to the researched root domain or URL.
  • .EDU Backlinks (Root/URL): Number of backlinks on .EDU domains pointing to the researched root domain or URL.
  • .GOV Backlinks (Root/URL): Number of backlinkson .GOV domains pointing to the researched root domain or URL.
  • External Backlinks (Root/URL): Total number of unfiltered links from external websites pointing to the root domain or URL.
  • Linking Root Domains (Root/URL): Number of root domains linking to the researched root domain or URL.
  • Total Juice-Passing Links (URL): Total number of juice-passing links (including internal and nofollow) pointing to the URL.
  • Total Page Size (URL): The total size of the specific URL that has been researched.
  • Load Time (URL): The amount of time it takes to load the specific URL that has been researched.

Authority / Ranking

The following metrics are available in the Authority / Ranking section of the Summary tab:

  • Citation Flow (Root/URL): Predicts how influential a domain or URL might be based on how many sites link to it. The scale is 1-100.
  • Trust Flow (Root/URL): Predicts how trustworthy a site is based on how trustworthy its linked neighbors are. The scale is 1-100.
  • Domain Authority (Root): A score of how well a given domain is likely to rank in Google's search results.
  • Page Authority (URL): A score of how well a given URL is likely to rank in Google's search results.
  • mozTrust (Root/URL): A quality score from Moz based on a 1-10 scale.
  • mozRank (Root/URL): A quality score from Moz indicating a website or domain's popularity.
  • mozRank (Root): The combined mozRank for all of the pages on a given root domain, averaged into a 1-10 scale.

Social Metrics

The following metrics are available in the Social Metrics section of the Summary tab:

  • +1s (URL): The total number of +1s given to a URL on Google or Google+.
  • Tweets (URL): The number of times a URL has been tweeted on Twitter.
  • Likes (URL): The number of times a URL has been "liked" by Facebook users.
  • Shares (URL): The number of times a URL has been publicly shared by Facebook users.

Majestic

Below the Statistics table is a collection of charts that display several different types of backlink data from Majestic. This data is derived from Majestic's historic index, meaning that the data goes back as far as six years and is updated once per month. Years can be toggled on and off the graphs by clicking the years in the legend.

The following graphs are offered in this section:

  • Total Links: Total number of external backlinks found in a given month.
  • Image Links: Total number of external backlinks with an image used in place of anchor text
  • NoFollows: Total number of indexed links marked as "rel='nofollow'" or contained within a page containing a meta "nofollow" tag.
  • Crawled Pages: Total number of crawled pages for the domain contained within the index.
  • Referring Domains: Number of new referring domains found in a given month.
  • Domain URLs: Total number of URLs for the domain contained within the index.

Domain Link Distribution

Finally, below the Majestic charts is a bar graph displaying data on the nationalities of your backlink data. Your total backlinks are displayed in the Domain Link Distribution chart in order of percentage, broken down by top-level domain extension. The data is in reference to backlinks for all of the content across your entire domain.
