FAQ: Standalone Site Auditor vs Site Auditor within Raven (Platform)

Follow

Why is standalone Site Auditor now available outside of the Raven Platform?

Site Auditor is one of the most used tools within Raven Platform. In fact, some of our customers only use Site Auditor. Because of its popularity, we wanted to make it better. Actually, we wanted to make it amazing, but we discovered we couldn't make it truly amazing using the architecture of the current platform. That's why we chose to create a new standalone version, so we wouldn't be restricted in any way.

Everything about the new standalone Site Auditor was written from the ground up. And we mean everything! The crawler is scary fast and so is the frontend. We utilized technologies from Facebook and Twitter to make it responsive and mobile friendly. The UI/UX is designed to simplify common tasks and to help you better understand how to fix site problems.

Will both auditors be supported into the future?

Yes. We are actively supporting both Site Auditors. In fact, the Platform version of the Site Auditor is already using the new crawling engine!

Will current Raven Platform customers get free access to the standalone Site Auditor?

No, and yes.

The standalone Site Auditor uses a different user account system and is initially focused more on SMBs, pro bloggers, and affiliate marketers.

The yes part is that the new standalone Site Auditor has a Freemium model, so you can definitely test it out without having to pay anything. However, if you decide to upgrade, it will be a separate cost from the Raven Platform.

How are the two auditors different?

Both Site Auditors analyze your website, uncover on-page SEO issues, prioritize what should be fixed, and educate you on how to fix your website.

There are some differences in focus, though. Here are where both tools currently shine.

If I'm a current Raven customer, should I switch?

Yes

If you only use Site Auditor within Raven and not other tools like Report Builder, ditching the Raven Platform in favor of using a paid version of standalone Site Auditor may make sense based on your priorities. The standalone Site Auditor has strengths in speed and ease of use.

No

If you use other tools within the Raven Platform like Report Builder, it likely doesn't make sense to switch for a few reasons.

  1. Using Site Auditor alongside Report Builder, rankings, social media tools, and research tools is an incredible value that's hard to walk away from.
  2. You're able to analyze a similar amount of pages in both paid standalone and platform plans.
  3. You'll continue to see increased speed and other improvements as we pass along what we learn from developing standalone Site Auditor from the ground up. Over the last year, we've made huge improvements to Site Auditor within Raven and those will continue, especially since both Site Auditors use the same internal API. Both auditors will be able to report on the same things as new analysis checks are added.
